The story of skaut.io

I’m Lorant, I'm the main guy behind skaut.io, I lead this tiny team of people working on helping you succeed as a freelancer. I’ve been working online since 2008, I never had a classic 9-to-5 job. I call myself a WordPress consultant, I've completed various projects ranging from simple data entry to custom development.

Freelancing in its most basic form is my first love. Browse freelance job boards, bid on projects, hope for the best, win some, deliver, get paid, repeat.

But honestly, it was often quite insane. I was spending way too much time hunting for new projects, went through countless dry spells, worked on crappy gigs just to pay the bills…sounds familiar?

I really, really wanted this to work, so I kept doing it. Tried different processes, I even hired virtual assistants to do lead generation for me.

After a few years of hustle mode, my bidding process improved, I built enough reputation to get projects via references as well, I didn’t rely solely on job boards. Income became steady, things got better and better. I now balance my work life between contract work and my own business ventures.

Success, right? Well...yes, things worked out for me. But I wish I figured it out sooner. And I’ve seen others struggle for much longer, many simply give up. It’s just too much hassle to go through years of frustration and chaos hoping that you’ll eventually succeed.

If I had to name one thing that held me back for far too long, that would be prospecting and lead generation. I simply wasted too many hours filtering out junk listings and because I wasn’t looking everywhere I was missing out on opportunities. Fixing this aspect can really make a difference, so I’m here to help with that.
